The Great British Rubber Duck Race!
This weekend I attended the Great British Rubber Duck Race down part of the Thames. As exciting as it sounds, it actually wasn't that exciting, mainly because the Thames was flowing so slowly that it took the ducks ages to even exit the lock. Either way, seeing over 200,000 blue rubber ducks in one place at one time was kind of neat.
Here is Molesey Lock. That's where the ducks were. It is a race, because you could sponsor a duck for about 2 quid and if yours won the race, you'd win 10,000 pounds. I don't think mine won, since no one has contacted me, but oh well. You can check out the website here.
And the doors are open!
And here they come! Keep in mind that it took them about 15 minutes to get to where they are in this photo, so it was not by any means a stressful, edge-of-your-seat kind of race.
Here are the leaders...
Aaaaand here are the rest. Thrown in for good measure were a couple green plastic frogs and 1 yellow duck. I didn't stay to watch the whole 1km race, because that could've easily taken another 2 hours. Instead I left to head to the deer park neaby, which turned out to be way more exciting...
